The only thing necessary for evil to flourish is for good men to do nothing.
Save the Cape, Inc., is a North Carolina nonprofit corporation established to foster responsible and sustainable growth in the lower Cape Fear region, protecting and enhancing this most sensitive local and national resource for use and enjoyment by current and future generations of people and the other creatures with whom we share it.
This organization works by providing information. We collect and collate the studies of Federal, State, and private agencies done over the years, and assemble that material into coherent informational tools. We use this Web site and our Facebook page to disseminate that information and to collect ideas. We use the organization as an incubator and nursery for collective action.
The model for Save the Cape is Save the Bay at Narragansett Bay in Rhode Island. Born in 1970 of an effort to oppose a nuclear power plant on the Bay, the organization has grown to a permanent, fully-staffed operation now considered essential to provide the environmental balance in regional decisions. We have the same ambition. And this area has the same need.
The founders of Save the Cape recognize that the lower Cape Fear region is rich in human resources. Membership in Save the Cape is open. Participation is welcome. Join us. Help us.
